The idea of the building of a link between France and England dates back to Jules Cesar. But it was in 1994 when took place the first Channel crossing with Eurotunnel. Today, there are up to 53 shuttles crossings a day between the terminals of Coquelles and Folkestone. The crossing takes 35 minutes. In 2006, 2 021 543 tourist vehicules and 67 201 buses used the shuttles Eurotunnel to cross the Channel; 7,9 million passengers travelled with the Eurostar (SNCF) which links Paris Nord station and Waterloo in London. |
